collaboration #08

6 hour performance
materials: coal, paper, thread

performed: Im_flieger, November 30th, Vienna AT, 2013

collaboration #08 begins with two artists, standing in piles of black coal on the corners of a white rectangle diagonally opposite each other. Each pulls a white thread through his/her black shirt, which falls into the coal traces on the floor, created by their slow moving feet.

Repeating this action, they gradually move toward each other, over the course of three hours, until they are in very close proximity in the center. They rotate 45 degrees and thread a black thread through their shirts. The action of pulling the black thread through their shirts is repeated for three hours. Left behind is a big pile of black thread in the center connecting the coal traces and white thread piles.
