tensegrity inspired sculpture made out of branches, wire, tension, trees

Inspired by the concept of tensegrity (tensional integrity), Jasmin began experimenting with building such sculptures during her time on site. Typically working within the expanded field of performance practices, she explored both the physical and metaphorical magic of relational tension held in a precise equilibrium. This makes visible how forces can support solid materials without them touching each other. Through the balance of tension and material integrity, the sculpture maintains its form and expands without any solid components being directly connected.
Tensegrity sculptures metaphorically emphasize for me the importance of “relations” that remain often invisible, yet are essential for making (any)thing happen, for example to make possible such a symposium which means nourishing the ground, a complex and effortful process, to support creative processes. I think it is due to these social relations and their quality, that actually keep this place here in equilibrium.
